Graduates in Africology
Graduates from UWM's Department of Africology are now practicing medicine and law, as well as pursuing careers in business, politics, teaching, social work, and the ministry. They also have done graduate work at prestigious institutions such as New York University, the University of Chicago, and the University of California. The Department takes great pride in the array of careers that today distinguishes its graduates.
Student Advising
Each Student majoring or minoring in Africology is assigned a faculty advisor. The advisor assists the student in formulating a course of study and coping with the campus environment. To be accepted and retained as a major, a student must maintain a G.P.A. of 2.5 or better in Africology courses. First year courses do not count toward the major in Africology.
Dr. Osei-Mensah Aborampah can help you decide on an Africology major or minor. He can be reached via email at mensah@uwm.edu or by phone at 414-229-5082.
The Africology Club Needs You
The Africology Club was created with you in mind! It provides an informal setting for academic and social activities. Club members, as well as faculty and staff, meet regularly to engage in peer tutoring, exchange creative writings, plan trips and "get-togethers", discuss career opportunities, and publish a newsletter. The newsletter announces upcoming events, provides information about employment opportunities, lists recent graduates, and publishes short works by students.
Dr. Ahmed Mbalia is the contact person for the club.
