Really a remarkable photograph because of the way that the most apparent subject, the water in the foreground, is also the repeated subtly in the background, the clouds, that is the water droplets hovering in the sky.

Tribute to Kodachrome

Kodak announced today that they will retire KODACHROME Film, concluding its 74-year run. Here is a Tribute, and an impressive slide show as well, containing a Kodachrome sampling from these venerable photographers - Steve McCurry, Eric Meola, and Peter Guttman.

"There are in life a few constants, but far too few. The sun rises in the morning and sets at night, and Kodachrome was what was always there to help us record those sunrises and sunsets and to brilliantly capture that ephemeral distance between light and shadow.

We would win awards with it, and the images that the light burned into its emulsion were a paean to this film, as much as the film was part of the soul of the photographers who used it and the unparalleled images they made with it.

We waited up nights to open those golden boxes--like young children surprised with glee and knowing we could drift asleep again and that all was right with the world, and that there was still Kodachrome, and almost nothing else mattered." - Eric Meola

In photohsop, make sure that you are showing the grid, that is:

View>show>grid or apple+"

go to Photoshop>Preferences>grids, guides, slices
change to grid line every 6 inches with 6 subdivisions

Under View, make sure that snap is checked.

Now using the marquee tool (M) you can select squares (hold the shift key) and copy (apple+C), make a new file (apple+N), give it the name of the sector (example, D4) and paste (apple+v) or drag using the move tool (V)

Remember:
Each sector 600 pixels sq. (6 inches).
Small Cell=100px (1 inch)
Each Sector 6x6 small cells.

Try to match the hue and value of the under-pixel by adjusting the opacity and options on the layer pallette. Also try image>adjustments>etc...
