distance education information from Wisconsin, national, and
international sources. New information and resources are being added
to the Distance Education Clearinghouse on a continual basis.

This
web site is managed by the University of Tennessee, Memphis, distance
education office and includes resources on distance education and the
use of technology in instruction.

The
Wellspring
This is a virtual community of
distance educators on the Web. It offers free workshops which are
held in asynchronous discussion forums. The workshops are designed
to help participants learn specific skills that figure prominently
in distance learning and instructional design. Registration is
through the homepage. Once a workshop has ended, the content is kept
in the threaded discussion forums area. Recent summer workshops
included Teaching My First Online Course: What Worked, What
Didn’t, and Evaluating Online
Courses: A Series of
Self-Guided and Group Web Tours.
International Council for Open and
Distance Education
Founded just before the Second World War (1938),
ICDE provides a
forum where distance education institutions
and professionals can meet in order to
discuss important issues, learn from each other and enter into
partnerships and business ventures with each other.
The Sloan Consortium (Sloan-C)
Formerly the site for
asynchronous learning networks (ALN),
which are people networks for anytime -
anywhere learning . ALN combines self-study with substantial,
rapid, asynchronous interactivity with others. In ALN learners use
computer and communications technologies to work with remote
learning resources.
