"Psychedelic/apocalyptic folk family with
beautiful, haunting harmonies, songs sung by apparitions, think the Carter
Family having a bad trip" - Jeb Ebben (MungBeing)
"From basement folk to ecstatic experimental rock, these
working class non-heroes have cut the path for music of its kind in Milwaukee.
... Partisan has the vocal complexity of Fleetwood Mac and CSN&Y, and the
pulsating strangeness of early Pink Floyd. But these comparisons are
ridiculous, because they don't sound like anybody else." - VitalSource

Partisan was formed when, after years apart, three friends from high school
met at a birthday party. Frank Knaebe (guitar, vocals, bass, noises)
asked Charlie Hoehnen (guitar, vocals) if they should play music
together. Katie Kralik (bass, harmonium, vocals, guitar) was easily
convinced to join. Originally conceived as a quieter vocal group, the
sound got out of control and it stays happily outside rolling in the grass
and, at night, climbing on the roof to confront the mystery of the
world. Recently Scott James Emmerich (drums, noises) coaxed a
feral boar into the basement.
Partisan records and releases their own music, or with the help of friends.
